StarryDays ("we," "us," or "our") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and share information about you when you use our services ("Services"), including our app, StarryDays. By using StarryDays, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at [email protected].
Key Definitions
- App: Our StarryDays application that references or links to this Privacy Policy.
- Services: Our App and related services, including customer support or communications.
What Kind of Data Do We Collect?
Data You Provide
StarryDays does not require account creation or sign-in. We collect or process personal information only when you voluntarily:
- Capture or import daily moments: Short video clips you record with the camera (including ambient audio when the microphone is used) or import and trim from your photo library. These memories are the core content of the App.
- Set preferences and profile details within the App, such as reminder settings, onboarding choices, display name, avatar image, and other local settings.
- Use optional features that read library metadata, for example when importing media or filling empty days from Photos (which may include dates and location metadata already attached to those library assets).
- Enable local reminders, which requires notification permission on your device.
- Communicate with us via email or feedback forms.
- Purchase StarryDays Pro (order and entitlement information is generated through Apple In-App Purchase; payment data is processed entirely by Apple).
Automatically Collected Information
When you interact with our App, we automatically collect limited technical and product data:
- Device Information: Type of device (e.g., iPhone model), iOS version, app version, and basic runtime environment signals needed for stability and diagnostics.
- Usage Data: A narrow set of product events, such as app opens, onboarding completion, when a day is lit (with a non-identifying source such as camera / import / calendar fill), paywall presentation context, purchase completion (product id), month backfill usage counts, and whether a Rewind export was watermarked. We do not upload the content of your day clips to analytics.
- Crash and Error Data: Stack traces, error logs, and diagnostic information to help us identify and fix issues. This data is collected via Sentry and is configured not to intentionally collect personal diary content.
- Analytics Data: Product analytics collected via Mixpanel using an anonymous device identifier (
distinct_id). We do not run an account identity layer, do not call Mixpanel identify/reset for user accounts, and do not use IDFA / App Tracking Transparency advertising identifiers for this purpose.
